New Delhi, India:

World champion PV Sindhu has decided to Skip the Uber Cup scheduled from 3 to 11th October in Denmark’s Arhus. The finals of Uber Cup in Denmark will be starting soon.

After Sindhu took this decision of withdrawing herself from the Uber Cup her father PV Ramana came out in her support saying that “She will skip the Uber Cup because of personal reasons. As of now, she will send her entry for the next two tournaments and decide based on the situation”.

Sindhu will fill her entries for two of the Badminton World Federation super 750 tour events in Odense. As per reports, most of the players have started their training for the game including PV Sindhu herself, Kidambi Srikanth, Sai Praneeth and Sikki Reddy.

Sixteen teams are set to participate in Men’s and women’ team championships.

World championships bronze medallist Praneeth will look to increase his workload gradually. “We started training after a long break. The body takes time to adapt to condition and take the load. Priority is to achieve fitness. Also, we have to wait and see the travel plans. There are a lot of things to decide. If I am fit to play I will go. I will have more clarity in next two weeks.”

One of the national selectors said “The players had earlier given their consent and that is why the team’s participation was confirmed. It is the first tournament that will restart international badminton and it makes sense for the players to compete. We still have some time in hand to announce the final squad.”
