California, US:

The Melno Park giant on Tuesday has officially informed the netizens, taking it to the Twitter. The tweet is concerned with the upcoming update providing an easier and efficient option to deal with the app storage.

For the phone storage however, the company has not released any statements yet.

The video attached with the official tweet explains how the upcoming update enables bulk item deletion, releasing space storing irrelevant and repetitive information.

“We’ve made it easy to review, bulk delete items and free up space. This new storage management tool can be found in Settings > Storage and Data > Manage Storage.”

The option, as the video suggests can be found on the top of the chat window.

The user can be seen receiving a notification, reading “storage almost full” as their device approaches the storage limit.

A tap on the “storage almost full” takes the user to “Manage storage section” where they can view any media against the space it has occupied.

The user can now go to the official app, following a tap on settings, followed by “Manage storage and data” and lastly “Manage storage,” to successfully release some space.

This update also promises to show the space taken up by forwarded messages and media occupying more than 5MB.

The company speaks of yet another, “select all” option where user can delete all the media, files including chats, all at once.

WhatsApp is said to release the feature for both android and iOS users worldwide.

“We now offer easy cleanup suggestions by bucketing both large files and media that has been forwarded many times, sorting files by size in descending order, and providing a way to preview files before deleting them.” WhatsApp said in a statement

“You can also see a preview of media before selecting one or multiple items to delete. The new storage management tools are rolling out to users worldwide this week. When available, users can navigate to the new tool by going to Settings > Storage and data > Manage storage.”
