Union Health Minister Announces Arrival Of COVID-19 Vaccine From More Than One Source By 2021

The present condition in the country has although changed to a greater extent from the past few months but still the sword against the deadly virus is highly waited. In a meeting with the Group of Ministers on Tuesday, Union health Minister Harsh Vardhan spoke on vaccine against COVID-19 to be expected early by next year. The minister stated that the vaccine developed to fight against coronavirus disease in the country shall be available from more than one source.

ANI quoted the statement by Harsh Vardhan as, “We’re expecting that early next year we should have vaccine in the country from maybe more than one source. Our expert groups are formulating to plan on how to roll the distribution of the vaccine in the country.”

Earlier the health minister stated that the government has been cooperating with the other countries for data collection in order to bring equity in vaccine distribution as soon as they get ready for usage. The population size of the country being vast is the reason of tying up with more vaccine manufacturers.

Soumya Swaminathan, chief scientist at the World Health Organization even spoke on vaccine development to be done soon and be available for registering by the end of this year of this year or earliest by next year.

On Sunday as well the Health Minister in the episode of weekly Sunday Samwad informed the people about the priority groups who will be vaccinated shall depend on some basic factors. He stated the key factors to be, “First is occupational hazard at the risk of exposure to the infection and second is the risk of developing severe disease and increased mortality.”

He further added that the current vaccines in development in India are “in the phases 1,2 or 3 of trials with results awaited.”

The minister added on the adequacy of safe and efficient data is needed to be checked for vaccine usage so that the patient is safe and then the action shall be preceded on the data basis.
