PM announces Rs 1,000 crore relief package for West Bengal: Amphan Cyclone

PM along with West Bengal’s Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee and Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar went on an aerial survey in the region and then stated out this package on Friday.

West Bengal: Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the full support of the centre to the damage caused in West Bengal due to the cyclonic event that occurred on Wednesday. He declared a relief package of 1,000 crore an advanced assurance due to devastation caused by the storm that killed nearly 80 people. PM along with West Bengal’s Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee and Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar went on an aerial survey in the region and then stated out this package on Friday.

PM Modi stated after surveying in Basirhat on North 24 Parganas district that, “All aspects relating to rehabilitation, reconstruction will be addressed. We all want West Bengal to move ahead. The centre will always stand with West Bengal in these testing times. We will work together to ensure that Bengal stands on its feet again.”

The State minister and governor received Prime minister on Kolkata airport before 11 a.m. and then carried forward with the aerial survey. All the norms related to precautions from the virus COVID-19 was reportedly undergone by them.

PM has even announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the deceased ones and Rs 50,000 to the injured ones in the cyclone that damaged various parts of West Bengal.

After the survey of West Bengal PM Modi will fly for an aerial survey of Odisha. Around 44.8 lakh people in Odisha are affected in the cyclone as per the officials of the state.
