Immediate Release for Dr. Kafeel Khan as He Cleared NSA Charges – Allahabad High Court

Dr. Kafeel Khan from Gorakhpur, UP cleared his charges under NSA and was released by the Allahabad High Court as the court did not find any kind of hatred or violence or any disharmony. He was rearrested and accused for giving infuriating speech at Aligarh Muslim University on Citizenship Amendment Act on 29th January 2020 by UP police.

Kafeel was booked under Section 153A for promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion. But later on, sections 153B (for imputations, assertions prejudicial to national integration) and 505(2) (for creating statements or promoting enmity, hatred or ill will between classes) of the Indian Penal Code were also added to the FIR.

On 19th March, 2020 Khan wrote a letter to PM Narendra Modi to provide medical assistance during COVID19 to him. But wasn’t not permitted and later in July2020 in a letter he claimed that around 150 prisoners were sharing only one toilet which may increase the risk of illness during the pandemic situation but it was considered as a fake letter by prisons officials.

On 26th June 2020 Indian Government was said to release the political prisoners who had been protesting CAA including Khan by Group of officials and some experts in the United Nations on the basis of Right to Freedom of Speech and Expression. Therefore, mentioning all the problems there are many more things to be unfolded.

NSA stands for National Security Agency and under it people can be detained without any charges for up to 12 months if are proved that they are threat to the national security or law and order.
