Downpour In The Southern States Of The Country, Nearly 18 Collapsed; Exams Postponed: Telangana Heavy Rainfall

Hyderabad, Telangana:

The southern states of India, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana were hit by heavy rainfall in the last 12 hours which has led to water logging in most of the places. The death toll in the states has also reportedly occurred due to the rainstorm. Telangana lost about 14 people in the rain accidents while Andhra Pradesh witnessed four death cases amidst the heavy downpour.

Telangana Government has ordered holiday in the state till Thursday in accordance of the unexpected rain in several parts of the state. Chief Secretary, Somesh Kumar announced a public holiday for all government offices, as well as private institutes, till tomorrow after analyzing the situation. Moreover, after a day of depression in the Bay of Bengal crossed Kakinada’s near coast the Institute of Meteorological Department has warned of severe thunderstorms alongside the coastal areas of Andhra. Heavy rainfall can occur in the upcoming 24 hours as per the department.

The control room at present has requested t6he locals not to enter out of their homes as the situation is stagnant and it would continue to rain, likely. Commissioner of the police, VC Sajjanar has assured of their teams to be ready for fighting the scenario in the state.

University exams in the state have also been postponed, the exams which were scheduled under Osmania University’s jurisdiction was to be held on October 14 and 15.

Thunderstorm along with lightning can expectedly occur in the places away from the main city as per the Met Centre in Hyderabad. At present, the Chief Minister of Telangana is holding a meeting on reviewing the flood condition.

ANI reported of three people, an old couple and their grandchild died as their house roof collapsed due to the rainstorm in Nagarkurnool. Streets near the area of Hyderabad are waterlogged heavily following the unprecedented rainfall.
