Bollywood urges on free rail services to the workers

Mumbai: The migrant workers stuck at different places due to the emergent lockdown situation amidst COVID-19 are being provided with train facilities by the Centre. In wake of offering free train travel to these migrant laborers Bollywood actors have started appealing on social media platforms to provide free rail facility for these laborers returning to their homelands during this global pandemic.

Ritesh Deshmukh, famous for his comic roles tweeted today, “We as a country should bear cost of migrants going back to their homes. Train services should be free. They (laborers) are already burdened with no pay & no place to stay compounded with the fear of #covidinfection.”

Sandhya Mridul expressed her thoughts criticizing the government as to “Making the migrants pay is ok. Actually why take the train? As long they walk under the flowers they are blessed. #unbelievable #PMcaresFunds.

The railways has funded 151 crore in the PM CARE funds recently which is making the people raise questions on the government and railway section of the country. Javed Akhtar tweets,

“Since the gov’t of India and its states have decided to charge the unemployed starving homeless and helpless migrant worker for the railway ticket. Let some credible NGO raise funds to help these migrant workers to pay for their travel. We all will donate for this cause.”

These Bollywood Celebrities should even have opinions on the working of Government during this crisis. Government of India has although asked the states to pay for the train fares for these migrants.

Other actors such as Sonu Sood, Adil hussain and Ranvir Shorey have also tweeted on the same cause.
