It’s been a long since online games are a new craze and in the times of coronavirus pandemic when everyone is at home playing online games reaching to an altogether new level of obsession. The world has got another favourite game called Among Us. Originally, launched in 2018, the game is a murder mystery set in space and contains ten players trying to find out who among them is an imposter.

One of the best free games on Play Store, it doesn’t require any special skill or any training and is still extremely engaging and lasts around for an average of 10 minutes.

In the group of people playing, there could be one or two or three imposters who have to kill the crewmates in order to win without being too ‘suspicious’ i.e. questionable and shady. Even before a lot of people started playing the game, they already knew about it, credit to its growing internet fame.

Memes on the game are popping up everywhere and its popularity has skyrocketed overnight, making it a trending topic of discussion. The composition of the game, trying to identify the traitor amongst your friends and has been made it a total gift for memers.

Becoming a sensation, the game has been downloaded by over 100 million users on Android, iOS and PC and has 4.5 rating on Google Play Store App with over 2,900,883 votes.

A sequel to the game was announced to be on its way, creating a frenzy among its huge fan following but lately on 24th August it was cancelled, citing to shift the focus on the original one. The news created a haggle among its fans.

The Developer company InnerSloth wrote on their website, “The main reason we are shooting for a sequel is because the codebase of Among Us 1 is so outdated and not built to support adding so much new content. However, seeing how many people are enjoying Among Us 1 really makes us want to be able to support the game and take it to the next level. We have decided to cancel Among Us 2 and instead put all our focus into improving Among Us 1.”

“All of the content we had planned for Among Us 2 will instead go into Among Us 1.”

Experts say InnerSloth developers know they must build on their success and keep players engaged and so their decision to cut a sequel makes sense.
