7-yr old Indian Girl becomes world’s youngest author; Publishes Her Own Book

New Delhi, India:

At a tender age of seven years, Abhijita Gupta has penned down her own book named “Happiness All Around”, which has found her recognition in International Book of Records. She has also earned the title ‘Grandmaster in Writing” by Asia Book of World Records.

The book covers a collection of poems and stories running from friendship, motherhood and climate change. The child is the third in generation of the Padma Bhushan recipient Rashtrakavi Maithalisharan Gupt’s and Santkavi Siyaramsharan Gupt.

The book is published in Oxford Bookstores’ children’s wing, Oxford Junior, an initiative to give children something to read, written by someone of their own age. It has been published by Invincible Publishers and is available both as a hard copy and a Kindle edition. Her next book elucidating her views on the COVID-19 pandemic and its effect on children will also be released soon.

The idea of the book came about to Abhijita in the days of the lockdown when she came across, and was subsequently inspired by a cartoon character who was an author. The name of the book “Happiness All Around” stems from the fact that the activity of reading provides her happiness and thus that penchant came out in her book’s title as well.

“Abhijita is a student of class 2 and is a third generation writer, to poet duo Rashtrakavi Shri Maithalisharan Gupt and Santkavi Shri Siyaramsharan Gupt. She is an avid reader and very expressive with a pen. She wrote her first story when she was a little over five years. By the grace of goddess Saraswati she is carrying forward the traits of her forefathers and we hope she extends the legacy of Sahitya Sadan Gharana,” her parents Ashish Gupt and Anupriya Gupta told a news source

Abhijita is the only daughter of Ashish Gupta, a chartered accountant by profession, and Anupriya, who is an engineer- turned-entrepreneur. She stays in Ghaziabad with her parents. Elated by her achievements, her parents said, “Every parent has a dream to be known by his child. For us, it came too soon. Abhijita’s book will leave a positive impact on society and inspire kids of her age.”

“Happiness All Around” is for children and is among the few books to be authored by a child.

According to the India Book of Records, she is by far the youngest author to write poetry and prose.Sharing about the origin of her passion, she says “The surroundings and even the little things inspire me. I write about positive things—what I hear, see or feel.” The prodigy girl also enlightens on her favorite poems “Mother Earth,”, “Let’s try, let’s fly,” “Study is my best buddy” and “Precious Friendship.”
