6 People Died of Suffocation While Cleaning A Septic Tank At Deogarh: Jharkhand

Deograh, Jharkhand: 6 people died of suffocation and breathing toxic fumes while cleaning a septic tnak at Deogarh, Jharkhand. The incident occurred on Sunday noon.

According to reports, a local resident Brijesh Chand Baranwala created a new septic tank. On Sunday, some “Manual Scavengers” opened the tank top to clean the tank. One “Manual Scavenger” went inside the tank. When he did not come out in some time a second “Manual Scavenger” went down to see the 1st person.

After some time, when the 2nd person didn’t come out, then the landlord, who created the tank, went down to look for the 2 “Manual Scavengers.” After some time when the landlord didn’t come out, his brother went in to look for all three people who were stuck inside. And at the end when all four people were unable to come out, then two more people went down to look for them and they also went unconscious.

After some time all six unconscious people were rescued and were taken to the hospital immediately, where the doctor pronounced them dead.

Three “Manual Scavengers” Govind Manjhi (48), his two sons Bablu Manjhi (26) and Lalu Manjhi (24) died in this tragic incident. Also the land lord and his brother and a local resident: Brijesh Chand Banarwala (48), his brother Mitlesh Chand Banarwala (42) and Leelu Murmu (27) died in the incident.

Police has registered a case and is scrutinizing the miss-happening.
