2022 Assembly Elections Results: BJP & AAP’s Clean Sweep In UP & Punjab

Holi comes early for BJP in 4 states. AAP scripts historic win in Punjab.

The ruling Bhartiya Janta Party is set to return with a landslide victory in Uttar Pradesh by winning over 200 seats. According to the Election Commission (EC), BJP is currently leading on to 220 seats. Whereas in Punjab, Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party is leading on to 59 seats with a storming victory, clean sweeping Congress’s stronghold in the state. Congress is trailing by 18 seats in the state.

In Goa BJP is already leading on to20 out of 40 seats, while the Indian National Congress is trailing behind on 12 seats. The major factor in Goa’s assembly election is that Kejriwal’s AAP has made its debut in Goa by winning 3 seats in Goa elections 2022.

In Uttarakhand and Manipur the Saffron party has taken a lead in over 45, 30 seats, while INC is trailing with 18 and 5 seats.

2022 Elections in the states of Punjab, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Manipur and Goa had kicked-off on February-20. The UP polls ended on March-07. After the assembly results the EC has also revoked the ban on ‘victory processions,’ which was imposed to curb the COVID-19 spread during the election results.

The current Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath has said, “People Have Voted for Nationalism, Good Governance.”

On the historic victory of AAP in Punjab AAP Convenor, Arvind Kejriwal has said, “Do you know who defeated Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi? A mobile repair shop worker.” Kejriwal was referring to AAp candidate Labh Singh Ugoke.

“Don’t challenge the common man,” Kejriwal further said.

The counting of 690 seats across the 5 states was commenced at 8:00 AM.
