US: Hitting an extensive milestone, American teen sensation and dancer Charli Grace D’Amelio has become the first content creator to hit 100 million followers on the Chinese short-video making app TikTok.

The video creation platform Tiktok said in a blog post, “While we’re extremely proud of Charli and all that she has accomplished since she shared her first TikTok video in May 2019, we’re most proud of her continued and unwavering commitment to herself and the TikTok community. Charli has inspired joy just by being herself, proving that, on TikTok, creative ideas matter more than social connections and people are celebrated for being their authentic selves.

According  to a Verge report, these numbers make her more than twice as big as Will Smith, three times as big as The Rock, four times as big as Selena Gomez, and five times as big as Kylie Jenner and Ariana Grande.

TikTok will also donate $100,000 in D’Amelio’s name to American Dance Movement, which is dedicated to boosting access to dance education in the U.S.

It is precisely her ordinariness that is the key to her success. With her pretty girl-next-door vibe, she exemplifies the ideal package for a TikToker: Relatable, authentic, normatively attractive, youthful, fun, unthreatening and uncontroversial,” Zoe Glatt, a digital anthropologist and critical intersectional feminist researcher at London School of Economics told CNET.

Charli tweeted about her achievement and said she couldn’t believe it was happening.

She also wrote in her TikTok blog post, “TikTok and the dance community mean so much to me. I wouldn’t be where I am today without all of you. So, on this special milestone, I am so grateful to be able to give back and celebrate aspiring dancers. I am so grateful for everything and I love you all.”
